Due to continuous rains and downpour, the water level of Shakha-Barak, Bijna and Barak rivers is increasing at Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj district .

Flood waters have inundated houses in several villages in Dighalbak union of the upazila. Working people are in trouble due to water coming from house to house.

It is learned that many rural roads, ghats and fish farms in the lower reaches of 13 unions of the upazila have been submerged in the flood waters. If the continuous rains and the downpour from the upper reaches continue, severe floods may occur in the upazila. Due to the obstruction in the branches of Barak and Barak rivers, the roads are being closed and the water is rising in the roads, which is causing problems for the movement of people. Many people say that if the Barak and Barak rivers had been dug, there would not have been such a problem. If the rain stops now, the water will decrease.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biswajit Kumar Pal said the administration had distributed 10 kg of rice from house to houses in Dighalbak Union.

Several days of continuous rains and landslides have flooded various low-lying areas of

Besides, various rural roads have been destroyed at Madhabpur upazilla of Habiganj district. Communication has been cut off due to rising water in many roads. Thousands of people in different areas of the upazila have been trapped in water.

Alternative bridges on the Jagadishpur-Dharmaghar regional road have collapsed again due to the hilly slope affected by the boundary rhyme of the upazila. As a result, the road users are suffering.

On the other hand, the boundary wall of the rubber dam collapsed due to heavy rains in the area of the rubber dam of Sonai river and several areas including the office collapsed. Many plants have also collapsed.

Akhter Hossain Monir, president of Rubber Dam, said the rubber dam was built on the Sonai River at Mohabbatpur in Chaumuhani Union iat a cost of around Tk 2.5 crore in 2001. A few years later, when the rubber dam was damaged by an additional hill slope, it was repaired again in 2018 at a cost of crores of Taka. But it is not working for the farmers. But in the last few days , heavy rains and landslides from upstream have again caused landslides near the rubber dam with a huge hole near the guide wall . Several areas including offices and valuable trees have collapsed. Now the rubber dam is under serious threat. Meanwhile, due to heavy rains and steep slopes, the Madhabpur -Gopalpur road was flooded and communication was cut off.
Madhabpur Project Implementation Officer Masudul Islam said the work of erosion was going on with the news through the chairman.
