Commemorating the 93rd Birth Anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib

The Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico City commemorated the 93rd Birth Anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib with deep reverence and fervor on August 8, 2023, under the theme ‘Bangamata’s Inspiration, Revolution and Liberation’, in the presence of esteemed embassy officials and members of the Bangladesh community.

Commencing the event, Ambassador Abida Islam placed a floral wreath before the portrait of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, accompanied by embassy officials. Subsequently, messages from the Honorable President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh were read out. A special prayer was then offered, seeking solace for her departed soul and prosperity for the nation. The event showcased the screening of two documentaries: ‘The Life and Work of Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib’, received from Bangladesh and ‘Life and Contributions of Bangamata’, provided by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

During an engaging open discussion, participants underscored Bangamata’s remarkable contributions. Additionally, a poignant moment was the recitation of the poem ‘Nari,’ a masterpiece by national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, delivered by Bangladeshi national Tanha Tabassum.

In her address, Ambassador Abida Islam offered a profound homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, accentuating the extraordinary contributions and sacrifices of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib during pivotal junctures in Bangladesh’s history. The Ambassador lauded Bangamata’s steadfast support for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and her role as a pioneer in advancing women’s empowerment. She expressed her hope that Bangamata’s sagacity, valor, and pivotal guidance through critical phases of Bangladesh’s liberation struggle will continue to ignite present and future generations on a path of altruism, courage, and unwavering commitment to the nation’s betterment.

The event came to an end with the distribution of traditional foods among the participants.
