Several coaches of the Kalni Express train separated while it was moving at Talshahar Railway Station in Ashuganj Upazila of Brahmanbaria. This incident stopped the train services between Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong on the up-line. The incident took place at Talshahar Railway Station around 12 noon today, Thursday.

Although no casualties were reported in this incident, panic spread among the passengers.

Talshahar Railway Station Master Md. Shahidul Islam said that the Dhaka-bound Kalni Express train, which had left from Brahmanbaria via a halt, passed Talshahar Railway Station and after some distance, suddenly opened the buffer of the train with a loud noise and the three rear coaches separated from the train while it was moving.

Realizing the matter, the locomaster applied the brakes and stopped the remaining coaches including the engine about half a kilometer away. This spread panic among the passengers.  After the railway officials reassembled the coaches, they left Talshahar station for Dhaka at 12:55 pm. Train movement on the up line was suspended for an hour. It is worth noting that a coach of the Brahmanbaria-bound Titas commuter train derailed at the same station on September 4. Those concerned say that the incident may have occurred due to a technical fault. The matter will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.
