Abdul Awal Mintu receives ‘Top Agri-Food Pioneer 2025’ award

Renowned Bangladeshi agri-entrepreneur Abdul Awal Mintu has been honored with the “Top Agri-Food Pioneer (TAP) 2025” award for his outstanding contributions to the country’s agriculture and food technology sector.
The award was presented on Wednesday at the Borlaug Dialogue held in Des Moines, Iowa, USA, jointly organized by the World Food Prize Foundation (WFPF) and the US Department of State.
According to a press release, the award recognizes individuals demonstrating innovative leadership in transforming global food systems. Earlier in June, marking the foundation’s 39th anniversary, 39 leading agri-food innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world were selected for the 2025 list, including Mintu from Bangladesh.
He was recognized for his pioneering work in three key areas — improving agricultural and food standards, promoting technology-driven farming, and developing local agri-markets.
Abdul Awal Mintu is the founder of Lal Teer Seed Limited and Lal Teer Livestock Development (BD) Limited, two prominent concerns of Multimode Group. Established in 1995, Lal Teer Seed now supplies nearly 30 percent of Bangladesh’s total seed demand and is among the country’s leading seed producers.
In 2011, he founded Lal Teer Livestock Development Limited with the goal of enhancing meat and dairy production. The company produces high-quality semen from genetically improved bulls and operates a sustainable artificial insemination program. Its training and knowledge-sharing initiatives with farmers have significantly boosted livestock productivity across rural areas.
A graduate of the University of London with postgraduate degrees in Law and Agricultural Economics, Mintu has become a prominent figure in advancing innovation, technology, and research in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector. His continuous efforts toward food and nutrition security have earned him both national and international recognition.
In his reaction to receiving the honor, Abdul Awal Mintu said:
“This achievement belongs to Bangladesh’s farmers, researchers, and young entrepreneurs. Our goal is to make agriculture in Bangladesh more innovative, sustainable, and globally competitive.”
