Members of the Bangladesh Police officially started wearing their newly introduced uniforms on Wednesday, marking the implementation of a revised dress code announced by Police Headquarters last month.
The new uniform features dark navy shirts for district police and most police units, paired with khaki trousers. Personnel serving in metropolitan police forces will wear light olive shirts with the same khaki trousers.
The new attire was seen during the inauguration of the Barkau Police Camp under RAJUK's Purbachal New Town Project in Dhaka, where senior police officials attended the event in the updated uniforms.
According to officials from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the rollout of the new dress code began on July 1.
However, they said distribution of the uniforms is still underway, and all personnel will receive them in phases.
Police Headquarters issued the revised uniform policy through an official notification on June 18.
The changes are part of broader reform initiatives aimed at modernising the police force and strengthening its professional identity.
The revised dress code does not apply to the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), Specialized Police Battalion (SPBN), Special Branch (SB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), or the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), whose members will continue wearing their existing uniforms.
The latest change replaces the iron-grey uniform introduced in November last year, making the new design the official uniform for most police units across the country.
