The Grand Finale of “Banglalink Ennovators”, the digital business ideation competition organised by Banglalink, was held at the capital today. The winners of the first edition of the competition were declared at the event. Present at the event were Tarana Halim, M.P. Honorable State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications; Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink and Shakib Al Hasan, skipper of Bangladesh National Test Cricket Team.
In the first phase of Banglalink Ennovator, more than 6000 youngsters registered for the competition submitting their digital ideas on entertainment, lifestyle, education, cloud computing etc, which was followed by another 2500 registrations. The competition enhanced the skills of the selected competitors through various activities such as grooming, boot camp sessions, workshops and presentations. Exhibiting exceptional skills throughout the competition, Sayeeda Wahee, Abir Tarique Hridoy, Araf Toa Sanjeed Khan and M. A. Maswood Alim of team Quasar procured the top positions.
Every member of the winning team has been awarded with a MacBook Air, while every member of first and second runner-up teams has received a latest Laptop and a Smartwatch respectively. All the members of the top five teams will get internship opportunities at Banglalink. In addition, the members of the top three teams will directly join the Assessment Centre of Banglalink’s “Strategic Assistant Program”.
Tarana Halim, M.P. State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, said, “The initiative Banglalink has taken for taking our young generation forward by organizing “Banglalink Ennovators” is really praiseworthy. I firmly believe that these youths have the potentiality to take Bangladesh forward. Competitions like this will play a vital role in their progress.”
Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink said, “Youths are the driving force of digital Bangladesh. If their innovative ideas are implemented properly, they can contribute to the progression of the society. As a believer of transforming lives through technology, Banglalink will organize such competitions in future as well. I also believe that these youths have the potential to take Banglalink and the country forword. ”
The competition kicked off with a press conference at National Press Club in Dhaka on 15 November, 2017 as an initiative for providing talented youngsters of the country with a career building opportunity on Banglalink’s digital platform. Road Shows and Campus Branding of “Banglalink Ennovators” were held at 35 universities across the country. Approx. 6000 students from more than 250 educational institutions from all over the country took part in the competitions.
