Six doctors of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College ( SOMCH) Of have been transferred for taking stand against the recent
ant- discrimination students movement.
The authorities have also issued show cause notice to 5 doctors of that Medical College.

Dr Shishir Ranjan Chakrabarty Principle of SOMCH, issued the Order through a notice on Sunday ( September 1, 2024).
While talking to the Asian Age, Dr Shishir Ranjan Chakrabarty said, “The decision of transferring six doctors have been taken at the syndicate meeting for their involvement in taking a stand against the students quota Movement ”

The six doctors are – SOMCH Gynecology department Professor Nasrin Akhter, Associate Professor Dr Moynul Islam,
Child department Professor Dr Mujibul Haque,
Pathology department assistant Professor Dr Satyabrata Ghosh, cardiology Department assistant Professor Dr Azizur Rahman and surgery Department Professor Dr Ashik Anowar.
According to the hospital, a total of 8 doctors have been declared ineligible for threatening Students at various times during the “quota movement.
Contacted over phone today Soumitra Chakravorty, deputy director of the medical College, Confirmed the matter adding that they all are internees, Some were transferred to Sylhet Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital ”

The decision of transferring six doctors were taken on basis of the application Made by the
Students of anti- discrimination movement, he added.
