A press conference was held in 6th September Friday at 3 pm in Bargaon village of Bahubal upazila of Habiganj district, the traditional pilgrimage site of Sanatan religious in Sylhet, North Eastern part of the country. The Principal of the temple Sri Sri Sachimata Smrititirtha Anand Dham, Sri Sarveshwar Govinda Das Brahmanbaria spoke in this.
He said, On August 5, a group of around 50 people, including some influential named Afzal Khan Molla, Samuj Mia, Abed Khan and Mortuz Mia, set up a majar gate at the entrance to the temple at around 11 pm to create obstacles in the temple entrance. On the same day, a 20-year-old name plaque of the temple was demolished on the south side of the temple on the main road of Bargaon area traveling from Sreemangal to Habiganj district.
The next day on August 6, a group of miscreants uprooted the 17 boundary pillars adjacent to the boundary wall of the temple at 1:50 pm after showing fear to the guards and devotees guarding the temple and The devotees of the temple go away. In this incident, the temple authorities filed a written complaint with the local administration, Deputy Commissioner, Habiganj and Superintendent of Police, Habiganj and The matter was brought to the attention of the army camp and legal action was demanded against the culprits subject to investigation. Then on August 10, after a lot of searching, 17 boundary pillars of the temple were recovered from a pond in Rashidpur tea garden and All were informed in the press conference that the banner of Majar gate was unfurled with the army’s intervention and Mirpur UP Chairman was tasked to take further action by the army.
In this regard, the priests of the temple and the devotees coming here have demanded immediate reconstruction of the name plaque of the temple and removal of the majar gate made in the darkness of the entrance along with security arrangements to perform all traditional religious rituals including worship, rathayatra, Radhaashtami of the said temple to take legal measures to the proper authorities.
The principal of the temple, Sri Sarveshwar Govinda Das Brahmachari also said, In the current situation of the country, a humble request is made to the head of the country’s government honorable chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus to protect the traditional Sri Sri Sachimata Smriti Tirthadham of our Sylhet division’s Habiganj district from the hands of some malicious and influential miscreants. Along with this, the cooperation of the local administration, Bangladesh Army, public representatives and all peace-loving countrymen is requested.
