Tashkent observed the 50th National & Independence Day of Bangladesh

Despite the prevailing quarantine situation, this morning Embassy of Bangladesh in Tashkent observed the 50th National & Independence Day of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in a befitting manner at the Chancery with participation of Uzbek well wishers, NRBs & Embassy Staff Members. His Excellency Ambassador Mosud Mannan ndc formally hoisted the National Flag while the National Anthem was being played. Afterwards two Pigeons were set free by Guest of Honour Mr. Tursunali Kuziev & Host Ambassador Mannan as the symbol of freedom and peace.

Two documentaries on “Genocide in Bangladesh during 1971” and the historic short film “Stop Genocide” directed by Zahir Raihan with English dubbing were screened to give the attendees some idea about the extent of brutality that was carried out by the occupation force from the fateful night of 25 March 1971 to the day of victory on 16 December 1971. After observing one minute’s silence in memory of Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs plus freedom fighters of the War of Liberation, special Dua was made for the salvation of the departed souls and prosperity of Bangladesh. It was conducted by Mr. Yousuf Nizami, PO to Ambassador.

Messages received from Hon’ble President Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid and Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read out by Ambassador Mosud Mannan ndc. Counsellor Mr. Nripendra Chandra Debnath read out the messages of Hon’ble Foreign Minister Mr. A K Abdul Momen and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shahriar Alam.

In the discussion meeting, former Cultural Minister of Uzbekistan eminent painter Mr. Tursunali Kuziev expressed his deep respect for Bangabandhu and the heroic People of Bangladesh. He also praised the recent socio economic successes of Bangladesh under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Local Bengali Community leader freedom fighter Engr. Golam Nabi in his speech praised the recent progress of Bangladesh while drawing the attention of the present Government of Bangladesh for extending more support & recognition towards the freedom fighters of 1971.

In his concluding address, Ambassador Mannan paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu and made elaborate discussion on his life and achievements. He lauded the role of the farmers and workers behind the present socio economic growth of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Government. He congratulated members of the armed forces and law enforcing agencies for their glorious role & success in various UN peacekeeping missions. Ambassador Mannan also through some lights about Vision 2021 & Vision 2041.

Before ending, a specially made cake was jointly cut by His Excellency along with invited guests and embassy officials. Finally, a souvenir in observance of Bangabandhu’s 100th Birth Anniversary was presented to all the attendees along with specially prepared Bengali Lunch packets.

It may also be noted that Hon’ble President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mr. Shavkat Miriziyoyev has already forwarded National Day Greeting Messages to Hon’ble President Mr. Md Abdul Hamid and Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
