Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said the government will give protection to the online mass media as it is playing an important role in free information flow, said a ministry release. “The government will protect the online media… the recently enacted policy will act as guideline to this end,” said the minister when leaders of the Bangladesh Online Media Association (BOMA) were exchanging opinion with the minister at his secretariat office in Dhaka.

Stressing on maintaining media sanctity, Inu said, “online news portals must have to maintain sanctity of the mass media and at the same time they have to take strict position against falsehood, rumor and instigation”. BOMA General Secretary Soumitra Dev congratulated the Information Minister for promulgating the online media policy and asked the minister to publish gazette as early as possible to make it open for all.

The Information Minister also greeted all the participants including the BOMA leaders for their active role in promulgating mass media policy.  Dr Abdur Rahim Khan, Advocate M Kamal Hossen, M Masud and Sajjad Hossen Aposh,l Rafiqul Islam Kajal,  M Lutfur Rahman,  Delwar Hossen, publicity secretary Khan M Nakib, Assistant Publicity secretary Afroza Begum Shirin,  Kursia ParvinJui and Kamruz-zaman Himu, among others, participated in the view exchange meeting.
