At Shri Shachimata Smriti Tirth Ananda Dham in Borgaon, Bahubal Upazila, Habiganj, thousands of lamps were lit Thursday (6 November)Nomemb as part of the Damodar Vrata celebrations. Devotees participated in a full day of bhajans, kirtans, Bhagavat discourses, and prayers, turning the temple premises into a festive atmosphere.As part of the event, a group of devotees undertook a pilgrimage on foot (Brajpade) from the traditional Jagannath Temple in Sylhet, joining kirtans and services at the Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Nityalila Bhumi in Dhaka Dakṣiṇa before returning to Shachimata Smriti Tirth in the afternoon.
Devotees observing the vrat remained engaged in 24-hour Harinam chanting, fasting, Bhagavat reading, and devotional service. Some took fruits, Panchagavya, or Abhisynna, while others practiced vegetarian meals or symbolic internal purification rituals.
The head of the Tirth, Shripad Sarveshwar Govinda Das Brahmachari, said, “Observing Damodar Vrata here is not just a religious ritual; it is a path of self-purification and love. Shree Jagannmata Shachidevi transforms the lives of her devotees.”
In the evening, thousands of Pradipa bati
illuminated the entire temple area. The celebrations concluded with Harinam Sankirtan, prayers, and devoted service, leaving participants spiritually uplifted.
Devotees present noted that Shachimata Tirth is gradually emerging as a significant spiritual center in Bangladesh.
