Police recovered the body of a vegetable vendor from a farmland in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jitu Mia (45), a vegetable seller at Janatar Bazar. He was the son of the late Morsh Mia of Sataihal village under Gajnipur Union.
According to local sources, Jitu Mia went to Janatar Bazar on Saturday afternoon as usual to sell vegetables. In the evening, he left his son at the shop and went out for personal work. After that, he did not return and remained missing.
On Sunday (14 December) morning, locals spotted his body lying in a nearby farmland adjacent to Janatar Bazar and informed the police. Upon receiving the information, a team from Goplar Bazar Investigation Centre arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
The body was later sent to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police officials said the exact cause of death would be determined after receiving the post-mortem report. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
