Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Habiganj on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The three accidents occurred in Nabiganj, Shayestaganj and Bahubal in Habiganj on Wednesday. The deceased include a mother and son. The deceased are Shamima Akhter (45) of Sagardighi Paschimpar village in Baniachong upazila, her 4- son Taki Ahmed, JoySankar Roy of Noahati in Habiganj Sadar upazila and Furkan Ali of Bager Hat in Khulna district.
Sherpur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Taher Dewan said that Syed Ali of Sagardighi Paschimpar village in Baniachong upazila was going to Sunaru village in Nabiganj upazila with his wife Shamima Akhter and child son Taki to visit a sick relative around 11:30 am on Wednesday. On the way, a Sylhet-bound Saudia Paribahan bus ran over his wife and son while they were crossing the highway near Dinarpur College, killing them on the spot.
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station Sanjay Chakraborty said that a person named Furkan Ali died in a head-on collision between a Sylhet-bound Shyamoli bus and a covered van in Hafizpur, Bahubal at 6 am. He is a resident of BagerHat in Khulna district. In addition, Jayankar Roy died after being hit by a truck near Fardin Mardin Restaurant in Shayestaganj at 9 am. Jayankar is a resident of Noahati area of Habiganj Sadar Upazila.

for Pran RFL Company in Alipur, Shayestaganj. He met with an accident while returning home after duty.”Both the buses involved in the accident have been seized. However, their drivers and their assistants have fled.”
