Environment Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo Visits Feni for the First Time After Assuming Office

Abdul Awal Mintoo, vice chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the newly appointed Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has arrived in his home district Feni on a four-day official visit after assuming ministerial responsibilities.
According to sources from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the minister left his residence on Gulshan Avenue in Dhaka by road on Saturday evening and reached his ancestral home in Dulamia village of Daganbhuiyan Upazila, Feni District, where he stayed overnight.
As part of his visit, the minister will participate in several official meetings and local programmes in Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi Upazila.
According to the schedule, on Sunday at 11:00am, Mintoo will attend the monthly meeting of the district law and order committee at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in Feni.
Later at 3:00pm, he will hold a meeting with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), the Officer-in-Charge of the local police station and other officials at the Sonagazi UNO office. In the evening at 5:00pm, the minister will attend an iftar programme organised by the Sonagazi upazila unit of BNP at the ground of Chhaber Government Model Pilot High School.
On Monday, he will meet government officials at the Daganbhuiyan UNO office and later join another iftar gathering arranged by the Daganbhuiyan upazila BNP.
On the final day of the visit, Tuesday, the minister is scheduled to inspect the under-construction Musapur Regulator Project on the Muhuri River in Sonagazi around 11:30am. The project, being implemented at an estimated cost of around Tk 900 crore, was recently affected by flooding. During the visit, the minister will review the progress of the project and assess the damages before giving necessary directives.
Earlier, upon his arrival in Feni, the minister was accorded a guard of honour at the Feni Circuit House by local authorities.
Officials from the district administration and local political leaders have taken extensive preparations surrounding the minister’s visit.
Minister Mintoo is expected to return to his residence in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the official tour schedule signed by his Private Secretary Saiful Islam, he is accompanied by personal officer Habibur Rahman during the visit.
