A 31-year-old job seeker in Jhenaidah has cleared both the written and viva voce examinations for the recruitment of government primary school teachers, but his appointment has been put on hold over an issue concerning verification of his permanent address.
Mission Acharya, a resident of Kalabagan in Ward 6 of Jhenaidah town, says he and his family have been living in the area for more than four decades. His National Identity Card and those of his family members also carry the Kalabagan address.
Missionâs mother, Moyna Acharya, 62, said she has lived in the area for more than 45 years. She raised her two sons on her own after her husband left the family, working in peopleâs homes and at private educational institutions to support the family.
The family currently lives in a rented room in a semi-pucca house in Kalabagan. They say they are registered voters in the area but do not own a house or land there.
Mission said he provided the Kalabagan address as both his present and permanent address while applying for the primary school teacher recruitment examination. All official and personal correspondence addressed to him has also been delivered to the same address.
I do not understand why there was a problem with my address verification after I passed both the written and viva examinations, Mission said.
According to his elder brother, Shailen Acharya, officials from the police and the National Security Intelligence visited their residence as part of the verification process after Mission completed the recruitment examinations. The family provided the information and documents requested by the officials.
Mission completed his secondary education at Jhenaidah Kanchannagar School in 2010 and later passed his higher secondary examination from Shishukunj School and College. He obtained both bachelorâs and masterâs degrees in Finance and Banking from Islamic University.
Moyna said she had struggled for years to ensure that her son could continue his education and was distressed that his appointment had become uncertain despite his success in the recruitment examinations.
Contacted, Jhenaidah District Primary Education Officer (acting) Md Amzad Hossain said Mission had not been finally excluded from the recruitment process.
His appointment process has been kept on hold temporarily because the information did not match during address verification,â he said.
The official said documents, including land-related papers and other information concerning Mission, had been collected and sent to the Directorate of Primary Education for review.
