A special prayer meeting was held on Saturday, March 8, at the auditorium of Kadhurkhil Marjin Buddhist Monastery under Boalkhali Municipality, Chattogram, organized by the international peace organization HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light) to call for an end to ongoing wars and promote world peace. As a symbol of global harmony, one thousand lamps were lit during the program.
The meeting was presided over by Venerable Bhikkhu Bipassi Mahathero, President of the Boalkhali Branch of Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prachar Sangha. The program was inaugurated by the Principal of the monastery, Venerable Bhikkhu Dipananda. The chief guest was Imad Ershad Ullah, son of Honorable Member of Parliament of Chattogram-8 constituency Alhaj Ershad Ullah.
Among others present were Venerable Bhikkhu Pragya Upeksha, Venerable Bhikkhu Nirodhananda, Sraman Ananda, along with a large number of devotees and followers. Speakers at the event stated that the ongoing wars and conflicts in different parts of the world pose a serious threat to humanity. They emphasized that killing innocent people and destroying nations are against human rights and called for an immediate end to war and collective efforts to establish lasting peace across the world. The speakers also highlighted that HWPL has been playing a significant role globally in promoting peace and the welfare of humanity.
On the occasion, Imad Ershad Ullah also provided CCTV cameras for the monastery to strengthen its security.
Later, Eid gifts were distributed among approximately 2,000 people with the financial support of Lion Sohel Barua, General Secretary of the monastery. The distribution program was presided over by Dr. Sanghapriya Mahasthavir. The chief guest was Honorable Member of Parliament of Chattogram-8 constituency Alhaj Ershad Ullah, and the inauguration was conducted by Principal Venerable Dipananda Mahasthavir. Lion Sohel Barua expressed his gratitude to all concerned during the event.
