SYLHET, June 20, 2026 (Saturday): Md Shamul Haque (Shamim), a Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer from Bahubal upazila in Habiganj district, has been named the Best Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer in the Sylhet region in recognition of his outstanding contributions to agricultural extension services and grassroots farmer support.
The award was presented at the National Workshop-2026 on Annual Performance Evaluation and Award Distribution, organised under an agriculture development project aimed at promoting modern technologies across the Sylhet region.
The programme was held last Saturday at the conference hall of Sylhet Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI).
Shamul Haque’s recognition reflects his dedication to supporting farmers, promoting modern agricultural practices and strengthening field-level extension services. His achievement is also being viewed as an inspiration for other agricultural officials to serve farming communities with greater commitment and professionalism.
The award was handed over by Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain, Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Sylhet Region, and Agriculturist Md Akhtaruzzaman, Deputy Director of DAE, Habiganj.
Among others present at the event were Project Director Rakib Uddin, Project Monitoring Officer Akram Hossain, officials from district and upazila agricultural offices, farmers and journalists.
Officials said recognising exemplary field officers not only honours individual excellence but also encourages others to pursue innovation, dedication and service-oriented leadership in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.
Shamul Haque’s achievement stands as a reminder that sincere efforts at the grassroots level can create meaningful impacts and earn prestigious regional recognition.
