An electrician named SM Mizanul Haque Mamun (40) was killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj. The accident occurred on the old Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Deorgach area of the upazila around 1 pm today, Sunday.
The deceased Mizanul is the son of SM Mehraj Mia of Jatukarnapara Mohalla of Baniachong upazila. He was working as an electrician at Baniachong Upazila Health Complex.
Another motorcyclist was seriously injured in the accident. He has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Sub-Inspector (SI) of Chunarughat police station Akhter Hossain said that the drivers and riders of both motorcycles were seriously injured in the head-on collision in the Deorgach area. When locals took them to Chunarughat Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Mizanul dead.
The other injured person has been sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been revealed.
Witnesses said another rider was seriously injured in a three-way collision between another motorcycle and a tom-tom.
