Mymensingh police have arrested two men, including a battery-run rickshaw driver, over the alleged rape of a 16-year-old Garo girl in Haluaghat upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Abul Bashar, 22, and his associate Md Milon Mia, 21, said Haluaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Hafizul Islam Harun. Abul was detained on Wednesday morning, while Milon was arrested on Tuesday night.
The victim’s mother filed a case on Tuesday evening.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident began on Monday morning when Milon called the teenager to join him in observing Puja celebrations. After spending the day together, he reportedly put her in a rickshaw driven by Abul Bashar, where the assault allegedly took place.
Police said both suspects are now in custody, and further investigation is underway.
