Rail communications between Sylhet and the rest of the country were suspended after four bogies of a train derailed at Moglabazar in Sylhet district on Tuesday morning.According to Abul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of scene and, with the assistance of local residents, began rescue operations to evacuate the passengers safely.

A relief train was later dispatched from Sylhet station to recover the derailed carriages, confirmed Sylhet Railway Station Manager Nurul Islam.

Sylhet Railway Police Station, the accident occurred around 8am when 4 bogies- including the engine-of the Chattogram-bound Udayan Express went off the tracks. The derailment forced a complete suspension of train operations on the route.
Police said several passengers sustained minor injuries during the incident. Upon receiving information, firefighters rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, began rescue operations to evacuate the passengers safely.

Railway authorities said efforts are underway to restore normal train services as soon as possible.

However, train operations between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed on Tuesday morning. According to Shamsul Habib, officer-in-charge of Moglabazar Police Station, The Kalni Express departed Sylhet for Dhaka. around 9:30 am, confirming the restoration of the route.
