The government has declared BNP Chairperson and former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia as a Very Very Important Person (VVIP).
A gazette notification was issued on Monday under the directive of the President.
According to the notification, she has been placed under the VVIP category as per Section 2(a) of the Special Security Force Act, 2021. The decision takes effect immediately.
The order was signed by Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury, Director General (Administration) of the Chief Adviser’s Office.
Begum Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for several days due to age-related complications. Doctors are closely monitoring her condition.
