Wednesday marked the final working day of Pranay Ranjan Das, Headmaster of Tekahali High School in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar, concluding his 33-year-long teaching career at 4:00 pm. On the occasion of his retirement, a farewell reception was organized in the afternoon of his last working day by his colleagues, students, guardians, and the school’s managing committee.
After the farewell program, the school premises witnessed an emotional scene as Mr. Das was bid farewell in a privately decorated car adorned with colorful fresh flowers. Teachers, students, and invited guests gathered to give him a warm and heartfelt send-off.
The farewell reception meeting was held under the chairmanship of S.M. Rasheduzzaman Bin Hafiz, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer and President of the School Managing Committee, and was conducted by Assistant Teacher Projit Ranjan Kar. The Chief Guest of the event was Upazila Secondary Education Officer Howladar Azizul Islam.
The honored guest, retiring Headmaster Pranay Ranjan Das, also addressed the gathering. Kabir Ahmed, Acting Headmaster of the school, delivered the welcome speech. A citation of honor in recognition of the retiring headmaster was read out by Poli Begum, a tenth-grade student.
Special guests who spoke at the event included Bidhan Chandra Das, Headmaster of Hakaluki High School; Abdur Rob, General Secretary of the Press Club; Bidhan Chandra De, Vice President of the Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association and Headmaster of Eidgahbazar Girls’ High School; Ajay Chandra Das, General Secretary of the Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association and Assistant Headmaster; Rina Das, Headmistress of Sonatola High School; social worker and education enthusiast Saiful Alam Russell; guardian member Jasim Uddin; former guardian members Muhibur Rahman and Sharaf Uddin, among others.
Among others who addressed the program were Senior Teacher Maulana Fazlur Rahman, students Muhidur Rahman Rafi, Mahbuba Akter, Tawhida Jannat, and others.
