A young motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet while attempting to save a pedestrian. The deceased was identified as Masum Ahmed (21).
The accident occurred around 10:30 pm on Thursday (February 5) on the Sylhet–Dhaka highway at Talertal area of Osmaninagar. Masum was a resident of Durajpur village under Tajpur Union and the son of Hiron Mia.
According to police and local eyewitnesses, Masum was riding his motorcycle from Tajpur Bazar towards Goyalabazar when a pedestrian suddenly came in front of the vehicle on the highway. While trying to avoid hitting the pedestrian, Masum lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown onto the road, resulting in his death on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, members of Osmaninagar Police Station and Sherpur Highway Police rushed to the scene and recovered the body. The deceased was later sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Osmaninagar Police Station, Md. Morshedul Hasan Bhuiyan, confirmed the incident and said that necessary legal procedures were taken by the police after the accident.
