The Election Commission (EC) has introduced four easy ways for voters to find their polling centre details and voter numbers ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election, allowing citizens to access the information from home.
Among the available options is the “Smart Election Management BD” mobile application, through which voters can obtain the name, number and location of their polling centre by entering their National Identity Card (NID) number.
The parliamentary election and referendum will be held on February 12, with voting scheduled in 299 constituencies. The total number of registered voters stands at nearly 130 million, while 42,779 polling centres have been set up across the country.
EC Public Relations Director Md Ruhul Amin Mallik said the app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. “Through this application, voters can view their polling centre’s location, photographs, distance from their residence and detailed directions using maps,” he said.
He added that the app also provides information on registered political parties, candidates’ affidavits, election-related updates and election results.
Four ways to check polling centre and voter number
1. Smart Election Management BD app
After opening the app, users need to select “13th National Parliamentary Election” from the dashboard and then choose the “Find Polling Centre” option. By entering their NID number and date of birth, voters can see their voter number, serial number, and the name and address of their polling centre.
2. Hotline service (105)
Voters from anywhere in the country can call the EC hotline 105 to obtain their voter number and polling centre information. After dialling the number, pressing 9 will connect the caller to an operator. Voters must provide their NID number and date of birth. The service is available daily from 6:00am to 12:00am.
3. SMS service
Voters can also send an SMS by typing “PC NID” and sending it to 105. A reply message will provide the voter number and polling centre details.
4. EC website (ecs.gov.bd)
Polling centre information can also be accessed through the Election Commission’s website. By visiting ecs.gov.bd and clicking on the “Polling Centre” menu, voters can search in two ways:
– by selecting the constituency and upazila/thana to view a list of polling centres, or
– by entering their NID number and date of birth to obtain personalised information.
The website also allows voters to view polling centre locations directly on Google Maps, providing details on distance and directions to reach the centre.
