An orientation program for newly admitted first-year undergraduate (Honours)/undergraduate students (Level-1, Semester-1) of the 2025–26 academic session at Habiganj Agricultural University was held on Thursday, 17 September, at 10:00 a.m. The program was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque, and conducted by Abdullah Al Masum, Lecturer in the Department of Allied Sciences, and Sadia Tasnim, Lecturer in the Department of Paraclinical Sciences. Alhaj Md. G.K. Gouse, Whip of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad, Member of Parliament for Habiganj-3, and member of the Syndicate of Habiganj Agricultural University, attended the program as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Chief Guest said, “Today is a joyful and emotional day for the new students. Through this orientation, they are getting the opportunity to become acquainted with their teachers and fellow students. We hope that, by building a bright future, you will become assets to the country and to your families. By contributing to the advancement of agriculture, you will help the people of this country live with dignity. Always remember that if farmers survive, the country survives. I hope that this agricultural university will play a unique role in the overall development of the country. With the goodwill of the government and the tireless efforts of those serving this institution, we have begun to see significant progress. We expect the current Vice-Chancellor to take the necessary steps so that we can move to the permanent campus of Habiganj Agricultural University as soon as possible. We have the opportunity to bring this matter to the attention of the Honourable Prime Minister. By making proper use of this opportunity, we want to resolve all the problems of the university within the stipulated time. I had promised to allocate BDT 500,000 for purchasing books for the university library. Seven days ago, I fulfilled that promise. These books will benefit our students.”
Special guests at the orientation program included Dr. Abu Mansur Sakhawat Hasan, Member of Parliament for Habiganj-2 and Syndicate Member; Professor Dr. Masuma Habib, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh; and Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail Hossain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Habiganj Agricultural University. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Jakaria Chowdhury Onik, Lecturer in the Department of Crop Production and Acting Assistant Student Affairs Adviser of the university. Greetings were also delivered by Tukir Ahamed, Lecturer in the Department of Allied Sciences and Acting Assistant Proctor; DR. Jakia Sultana Koly, Lecturer in the Department of Animal Sciences and Acting Assistant Provost of the Temporary Female Student Hall; Md. Habibullah Siddiki, Lecturer in the Department of Land Management and Acting Assistant Provost of the Temporary Male Student Hall; Dr. Md. Abubakar Siddik, Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences and Coordinating Teacher of the Faculty of Agriculture; Nusrat Hossain Nushy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries Resources and Management and Coordinating Teacher of the Faculty of Fisheries; DR. Rahima Akther Dipa, Lecturer in the Department of Preclinical Sciences and Coordinating Teacher of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science; Tarana Sharmin, Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences and Coordinating Teacher of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and Md. Badrul Amin, Acting Deputy Registrar of the university. In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mozammel Hoque said, “The new students must enrich themselves with knowledge, skills, discipline, and moral values so that they can contribute to the development of agriculture and the overall progress of the country. We are working to develop Habiganj Agricultural University into a modern, research-oriented, student-friendly university and a ‘Center of Excellence.’”
