A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his bike crashed into a parked tractor in Habiganj on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Payel Gop, son of Bhanu Gop of Narayanpur village under Habiganj Sadar upazila. Another rider, Bishal Gop, sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The crash occurred around night hours on the Habiganj–Shaistaganj road in the Ratanpur area, according to police and local sources.
Witnesses said the two were travelling towards Habiganj town from Shaistaganj when the motorcycle reportedly lost control and rammed into a tractor that had been left stationary on the roadside. Both riders were critically injured in the impact.
Locals rescued them and took them to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital, where the attending physician declared Payel dead. Bishal was later shifted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Officer-in-Charge Delwar Hossain of Habiganj Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident, adding that legal procedures are underway.
