The media community in Chattogram is mourning the loss of seasoned journalist Md. Ayub Ali, Bureau Chief of The Daily Industry and a former official of the Chattogram Press Club, who passed away at the age of 58.
Ayub Ali breathed his last in the early hours of Monday, March 2, while undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. His death has sent shockwaves through the journalistic fraternity, where he was widely respected for his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication to ethical reporting.
He leaves behind his parents, wife, one son, two daughters, and numerous colleagues and admirers. His funeral prayers were held on Tuesday after Dhuhr at Shovon Dandi Abahana Imtiaz Molla Jame Mosque in Patiya, where family members, fellow journalists, and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects.
In a statement, The Daily Industry expressed profound grief over the passing of its long-serving correspondent, describing him as a journalist who consistently delivered impactful and responsible reporting. Editor Dr. Enayet Karim said Ayub Ali approached every assignment with dedication and integrity, adding that his absence would be deeply felt in the newsroom.
