A student rally was held in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar protesting what organizers described as âattempts to destabilize the country through planned violence and anarchy.â The rally was organized by the Juri Upazila unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at Juri Shishu Park on Saturday (September 26) afternoon.
Member of Parliament for Moulvibazar-1 (Barlekha-Juri) constituency Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mithu attended the rally as the chief guest.
In his speech, MP Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mithu said the contribution of former President Ziaur Rahman is significant in Bangladeshâs democratic and political history. He said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its student wing, Chhatra Dal, were formed following his ideals and nationalist principles.
He called upon the younger generation to play a responsible role in protecting democracy, peopleâs rights and social stability.
He further said the BNP has received the responsibility of running the state through a mandate from the people. According to him, the governmentâs primary responsibilities are to meet public expectations, maintain law and order, promote national development and uphold the democratic process. He urged everyone to remain vigilant so that violence, anarchy, rumours or planned misinformation could not disrupt the countryâs peaceful environment.
The rally was presided over by Faizur Rahman convener of Juri Upazila Chhatra Dal, while its member secretary Sohel Ahmed moderated the programme.
Among those who addressed the rally were Juri Upazila BNP President and Jaifarnagar Union Parishad Chairman Haji Masum Reza, Senior Vice-President and Goalbari Union Parishad Chairman Md. Abdul Qayyum, General Secretary Motiur Rahman Chunu, former Convener Dr. Mostakim Hossain Babul, Joint General Secretary Haji Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Organizing Secretary Rumel Uddin, Juri Upazila Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Haji Niper Reza, Joint Conveners Imtiaz Gafur Maruf and Foysal Ahmed, Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal Member Secretary Saifur Rahman, and TayeÂbunnessa Khanam Government College Chhatra Dal Convener Amir Hossain, among others.
Also present at the rally were Sylhet City College Chhatra Dal General Secretary Mursalin Ahmed Asfia, Chhatra Dal leaders Jabed Ahmed, Saifur Rahman and Iqbal Hossain Siplus, along with leaders and activists from different levels of the organization.
The speakers called for maintaining a peaceful political environment in the country, avoiding violence and anarchy, and remaining united and responsible against any attempts to create instability.
