Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Tabith Awal has been inducted into a prestigious committee of the world football governing body, FIFA. Awal will serve as a member of the Football Technology, Innovation & Digital Transformation Committee, a body responsible for shaping the sport’s future through technological and digital advancements.
The committee brings together football leaders from across the globe, including representatives from Bahrain, Rwanda, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Scotland. It is chaired by Thorvaldur Orlygsson of Iceland, with Jorge Giménez of Venezuela as deputy chair.
Speaking on his appointment, BFF insiders said the nomination reflects growing international recognition of Bangladesh’s role in the sport’s governance and modernization efforts.
Meanwhile, Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, who serves on both the AFC and BFF, has been appointed to FIFA’s Youth Girls’ Competition Committee. The committee oversees the organization and development of girls’ football tournaments and youth initiatives worldwide.
Kiron will join other members from countries such as Yemen, Congo, DPR Korea, Cambodia, Peru, Iran, Nepal, Zambia, Aruba, American Samoa, Grenada, and Latvia.
While Kiron has previously held roles within FIFA structures, this marks Tabith Awal’s first appointment to a global football committee — a milestone moment for Bangladesh football administration.
