Moulvibazar observed July Mass Uprising Day 2026 with due respect and solemnity on Wednesday (August 5), as the district administration organised a day-long series of programmes commemorating the sacrifices of the July martyrs and recognising the contributions of the July fighters.
The observance began in the morning with the laying of wreaths at the July Martyrs’ Memorial, where government officials, law enforcement personnel, political leaders, representatives of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and members of the public paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the uprising.
As part of the programme, the district administration also felicitated July fighters and members of the martyrs’ families in recognition of their sacrifice and contribution.
A discussion meeting and cultural programme were later held at the Moulvibazar District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Touhiduzzaman Pavel.
Among those who addressed the event were Superintendent of Police Md Monirul Islam, District Council Administrator Mizanur Rahman Mizan, BNP Moulvibazar Convener Committee member Fakhrul Islam, Muazzey Hossain Matuk, Jamaat-e-Islami Moulvibazar Secretary Md Yamir Ali, and July fighters Shah Misba, Md Mizanur Rahman, and Kazi Manjur Ahmed, among others.
Speakers highlighted the historical significance of the July Mass Uprising, paying tribute to the martyrs and acknowledging the courage and sacrifices of the injured and participating July fighters. They said the uprising represented a united stand against discrimination and stressed the importance of preserving its history for future generations.
During the programme, July fighters and members of the martyrs’ families were presented with honorary crests. The day’s observance concluded with a cultural programme featuring patriotic songs, recitations and dance performances.
The event was attended by government officials, political leaders, freedom-minded citizens, July fighters, and people from different walks of life.
 The Moulvibazar district administration organised the programme as part of the nationwide observance of July Mass Uprising Day 2026.
