Khasi  Student Union (KSU) celebrated it’s Silver Jubilee with great enthusiasm and festivity at Agar Khasi Punji in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar From December 28–29, marking 25 years of its journey and achievements.

The Silver Jubilee programme was inaugurated by Barlekha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Galib Chowdhury as the chief guest, who formally opened the event by cutting a cake amid applause from students, community leaders and invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, UNO Galib Chowdhury said, “It is not possible to accelerate development by leaving any community behind. Sustainable development can only be achieved when people of all religions and ethnic groups move forward together.”
He further urged students and youths to engage more actively in social and cultural activities, be guided by patriotism and contribute to building a developed and inclusive Bangladesh.
The two-day Silver Jubilee celebration featured a series of programmes including the unveiling of a commemorative magazine and a memorial monument, presentation of honorary crests, discussion meetings, and colourful cultural performances reflecting Khasi heritage and traditions.
The discussion meeting was presided over by KSU President Benedict Sungoh and conducted by its General Secretary Lenchar Tongper. Among the special guests were Bonifas Khonglah, Regional Director of Caritas Sylhet Region; Advocate Subimol Lindohkiri, former KSU President and a lawyer at the Moulvibazar District and Sessions Judge Court; Antony Mukhim, founding member and Executive Director of Mariang for Community and Ecosystem Services; founding member Origen Khonglah; former General Secretary Stephen Marlia; and Head (Mantri) of Agar Khasi Punji, Sukmon Amsey.
Other notable attendees included Dr. Sunday Elizabeth Podueng, former Vice President of KSU Sylhet Branch and Indoor Medical Officer (IMO) of Sylhet Women’s Medical College Hospital; Dr. Dorin Magdalene Pamthet, former Cultural Secretary and IMO of the same hospital; journalist and human rights activist Michael Nongrum; President of KSU Sylhet Branch Markus Papang; former General Secretary Raju Rupsi; Treasurer Bishwo Bareh; leaders of various district and upazila branches of KSU; heads of different Khasi punjis; and representatives of Khasi youth organizations.
It is worth mentioning that the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) was founded in 2000 with the slogan “Education, Equality, Unity.” Over the past 25 years, the organisation has been working to promote education, unity and the rights of Khasi students and youths in Bangladesh.
