Following its victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Tuesday unveiled the full distribution of portfolios in its new cabinet, assigning key ministries to a mix of senior figures and emerging leaders.
Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been entrusted with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. The Ministry of Finance and Planning goes to Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, while Salahuddin Ahmed takes charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has been assigned to Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku. Hafiz Uddin Ahmed will oversee the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. The Ministries of Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare will be led jointly by Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain.
In a technocratic appointment, Khalilur Rahman has been placed in charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has been assigned the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change goes to Abdul Awal Mintoo, while Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad will head the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Mizanur Rahman Minu has been given the Ministry of Land, and Nitai Roy Chowdhury will oversee the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The Education Ministry, along with the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, has been entrusted to A M N Ehsanul Haque Milon. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare goes to Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain. Fakir Mahbub Anam has been assigned the Ministries of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, as well as Science and Technology.
A consolidated transport portfolio — covering Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping — has been handed to Sheikh Robiul Alam. Ariful Haque Chowdhury will lead the Ministries of Labour and Employment, and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been assigned to Zahir Uddin Swapan. Mohammad Aminur Rashid will oversee the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and Food.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism goes to Afroza Khanam, while Md. Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has been assigned the Ministry of Water Resources. Asadul Habib Dulu will head the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has been given to Md. Asaduzzaman. Zakaria Taher will oversee the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, while Dipen Dewan has been placed in charge of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
Party insiders say the distribution reflects a strategic balance between administrative experience and generational renewal. The BNP leadership expects the newly formed cabinet to enhance coordination, improve policy execution, and bring renewed momentum to governance in the coming term.
