Under the joint initiative of HWPL and Bangladesh Buddhist Peace Academy, the “Buddha Purnima Peace & Humanity Award 2026” and Buddha Purnima Celebration 2026 were successfully held at Kadhurkhil Margin Bihar, Boalkhali Municipality, Chattogram.
The day-long international Buddhist conference and religious program took place on Saturday, 9 May 2026, with the participation of international delegates from South Korea and Myanmar in cooperation with HWPL. Special guests included Jacob Bae, Coordinator of International Peace Youth Group, HWPL Global 03 Branch; Benjamin Kim, Coordinator of Peace Education Department, HWPL Global 03 Branch; and Myanmar’s meditation master Makhanti Pahiya.
The program was presided over by Venerable Sharansena Mahasthavir, General Secretary of Purnachar Bhikkhu Sangha. Blessings were delivered by Venerable Prajnajyoti Mahasthavir, Venerable Shubhananda Thero, Venerable Satyananda Thero, and Venerable Sharanshree Thero.
For his outstanding contribution to the promotion and expansion of Buddhism internationally, Venerable Dipananda Bhikkhu, Principal of Kadhurkhil Margin Bihar, was honored with the title of “Dharmadut” by the Buddha Purnima Celebration Committee.
The overall supervision of the event was led by Venerable Dipananda Bhikkhu, President of the Celebration Committee and Chairman of the Bangladesh Minority Buddhist Association.
The “Buddha Purnima Peace & Humanity Award 2026” and special honors were formally presented to distinguished individuals for their contributions in education, social service, healthcare, culture, and Buddhist devotional music.
Award recipients included Jacob Bae (South Korea), Benjamin Kim (South Korea), Imad Ershad, Professor Dr. Prabhat Chandra Barua, Amaresh Barua Chowdhury, Dr. Sabuj Barua, Dalim Barua, Lion Sohel Barua, Shyamal Chowdhury, Tapas Barua, Buddhist devotional singer Jusi Barua, Dr. Rupa Barua, Suparna Barua, dancer Ananya Barua, and journalist Dr. Adhir Barua.
The program was hosted by Mansi Barua and Prajna Paramita Barua. The Five Precepts prayer was conducted by Sanjay Barua.
Speakers emphasized Buddhism as a religion of peace, compassion, and non-violence, calling for global harmony and human welfare inspired by Lord Buddha’s teachings.
