Preparations were in full swing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning as BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh after a long exile. A bulletproof vehicle was stationed at the airport to transport him safely to his scheduled events and engagements.
According to sources, Tarique arrived on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-202 from London’s Heathrow Airport, accompanied by his wife, Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Zaima Rahman. The flight was scheduled to land in Dhaka at 11:50 a.m.
From the VIP lounge ‘Rajnigandha’ at the airport, Tarique is expected to travel by road to the 300-Foot reception stage in Purba Chala, where he will deliver a brief speech to party members and the public.
After the reception, he will visit Evercare Hospital to spend nearly an hour with his ailing mother and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from 4:10 p.m. He will then proceed to his residence at
196 Gulshan Avenue to reunite with his family.
Authorities have implemented three-tier security measures for his visit. Entry to the airport will remain restricted until 6:00 p.m., while intelligence units and SWAT teams have been deployed to ensure strict monitoring.
Tarique Rahman’s return and the reception have triggered heightened political activity and tight security arrangements across the capital.
