Dr Kamal Hossain, the architect of Bangladesh’s Constitution and emeritus president of Gono Forum, has been admitted to a private hospital in the capital for medical care. He is currently under close observation of doctors after experiencing physical weakness and complications related to his lungs.
According to a statement from Gono Forum, Dr Hossain is receiving necessary treatment and physicians are optimistic about his recovery. Party leaders said his condition is stable and that age-related factors, combined with recent physical strain, may have contributed to his illness.
Dr Hossain had recently attended the janaza of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, where he remained present among a large gathering for an extended period. Gono Forum leaders described his presence as a humane and dignified gesture by a senior statesman paying final respects. However, the prolonged engagement reportedly left him physically exhausted.
Gono Forum General Secretary Md Mizanur Rahman has sought prayers from the nation for Dr Hossain’s swift recovery. “Dr Kamal Hossain belongs not to a single party but to the entire nation. We are hopeful that he will soon regain his strength and return home,” he said.
Political leaders, members of civil society and well-wishers from across the country have expressed concern over his health and continue to pray for his speedy recovery.
