Sylhet marked a significant milestone for the future of Bangladesh cricket on Saturday, 3 January, with the formal inauguration of the Regional Cricket Center, aimed at strengthening cricket development at the grassroots level across the region.
Local sports organisers and Sylhet-based officials pledged their full cooperation to ensure the effective functioning of the centre and to promote structured cricket development among young talents.
The keynote address was delivered by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCCB) President Md Aminul Islam, who outlined the vision and strategic roadmap of the Regional Cricket Center. He emphasised long-term planning focused on creating a strong pipeline of promising cricketers through systematic training programmes, modern coaching methods, and improved infrastructure.
BCB Director (Sylhet) Rahat Shams spoke on the theme “Grassroots to Greatness,” underscoring the vital role of regional cricket centres in nurturing future national players. He highlighted that decentralised and inclusive development initiatives would help identify and groom talent from all corners of the country, ensuring sustainable growth for Bangladesh cricket.
The launch of the Regional Cricket Center in Sylhet is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional participation and producing skilled cricketers for the national setup in the years ahead.
